We spent our 2018 Spring Break on the beautiful island of Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. We all fell in love with it and would definitely recommended it as a place to visit on your next Caribbean getaway.
Turks and Caicos is a destination for everyone, from honeymooners who want to just chill by the beach and to families with young kids who want some action-pack days (with some mommy and daddy time in between if you’re lucky to have a kid’s club). This island offers something special for all the ages.
Here are few things we love about Turks and Caicos.
1. TURQUOISE WARM WATER
We couldn’t get enough of the turquoise water this island has to offer. The moment our plane started to descend for landing, my jaw dropped. It really was love at first sight… So beautiful! So unreal!
I guarantee that you will have an Instagram full of turquoise water posts. It’s like no other than we have seen by far.
FUN FACT: The naming of Turks and Caicos does not come from the color of the water nor that the Turks were ever there (that would have made the Ottoman Empire far bigger than it was). The Islands are named by the merging of 2 things; the first is the Turk’s cap cactus (Melocactus intortus) that are found on the islands and which top is similar to the traditional Turkish Fez hat. The second is the Lucayan term “caya hico” which translated means ‘string of islands’.
The Turks and Caicos Islands generally have pleasant and consistent weather throughout the year.
Tip: Hurricane season (June to November) coincides with the low season. And with the advancement of meteorological sciences it easier now to predict in advance the threat of a hurricane than in the past. You can now start planning without much concern although it’s also never a bad idea to purchase travel insurance for this reason and the other benefits that you get.
2. POWDERY BEACHES
Few will argue if I say that Turks and Caicos has some of the best beaches in the world. Powdery white sands and crystal clear water!!! Grace Bay beach is world famous but there are other many beautiful beaches on the island. Many have very wide shallow waters that are calm which make them perfect for the little ones – you still have to keep a watchful eye though!
3. Water Activities
If you love the water and enjoy water activities then this is a perfect island for you. From swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, kite surfing, boat charters and cruises to scuba diving, free diving, snorkeling and a lot more…
Here are some pictures of the few water activities we did.
If diving is not your thing, don’t worry, this island has great snorkeling spots. The Coral Gardens is a great reef for snorkeling which is right off the beach. My husband went snorkeling and saw a large variety of species in the great coral reef.
5. Family Time, Best Time
YES, this is indeed a family destination. Parents and kids alike can spend tireless hours on the calm and beautiful beaches.
I am totally recommending this island for your next family getaway. Email me and I’d be more than happy to help you plan your trip. I couldn’t be happier than seeing those little smiles running and playing by the beach.

FUN FACTS are FUN hahaha… ANd you should visit this Island… we’ve been to some in the Caribbean and by far, it’s on the top:)
I jsut went to turks and caicos in April and I agree 100% with this!!! I didn’t have my scuba certification at the time ( i do now) so I will have to go back to go diving, (oh darn). I would seriously love to go back, what a wonderful place!!
Woohoo… WELCOME to the Underwater World!!! A privileged LIFE and so happy you get the certification:) Did you know that we are the coolest people on Earth?!? hahaha Enjoy the waters and yeah… hope you get to visit Turks and Caicos again… coz we are already planning our next visit:)
Your photos are amazing! And the paddle bike looks like great fun – I haven’t seen anything like that before but would love to try it!
(sorry for all caps… I can’t figure out how to change it, It’s not *locked* on my keyboard! 🙁 No idea what it is!)
The photos are incredible and the colors so inviting. Reading about the powdery sand makes me imagine exactly how soft it must actually be. this is a place i would love to visit.
Turks and Caicos is a great name for a group of islands. I found out they are owned by the British but they are near the Bahamas. what a find you had!
That’s really interesting how Turks and Caicos got its name! I don’t know too much about the place, but it looks absolutely beautiful! That video of diving with the dolphin looks incredible – I would love to do that. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous photos.
Thanks for dropping by:) Yeah… it’s worth a visit definitely.
Wow I love your photos! This post has really made us want to visit now, it just looks like a mix of perfect paradise and amazing fun for everybody!
One of the BEST or THE BEST in the Caribbean:) Hope you get to visit one day. xoxo
This looks like you guys had such a fun time there! I didn’t know that the island was named after the plant that looks like a Turkish hat! Is it expensive to go down there? Every time I have looked into going to the Caribbean it’s been so pricey!
You’re right, it’s one of the most expensive islands in the Caribbean. BUT guess what, you get what you pay for:) It’s really worth it….AND there are other options on accommodations so it might lower the cost a bit. Let me know if you need any help looking for great value for your money. xoxo
I have been to turks and caicos, but only grand turk. I want to go back and spend time on other islands. I did the same thing you did flying in, my jaw was on the floor! I had no idea how turks and caicos got its name. It actually never occurred to me but that’s interesting-cactus and string of islands! it is the prettiest water, i agree! your underwater photos are amazing!
Right?!? hahaha I thought it’s just on the photos…. Oh my… seriously beautiful!!!
Beautiful photos! I would love to visit Turks and Caicos…we haven’t even been the Caribbean AT ALL! THe water looks gorgeous, and it looks so warm and inviting! Thanks for sharing.
Where are you from if you don’t mind? Most Americans and Europeans vacations to the Caribbean though. If you are that far… I think it’s still worth a visit:)
The water is such a gorgeous turquoise! Looks like a wonderful place to spend time with the family. Also, thanks for the trivia on the etymology. I was wondering what did these islands near the Caribbean got to do with the turks!
YES, no doubt … such a great place to reconnect with someone and to have some quality time with family. Thank you for dropping by.
