Embracing the New Year brings with it a sense of renewal, and for me, it’s not about an entirely “New Me” but rather an improved version of myself. I am a mother striving to be the best version of myself!
I am recently committed to preparing healthy, protein-rich breakfasts and school lunches for my kids. YES… I know! Most of my friends know that I love my sleep in the morning, and it is my husband who wakes up early to usher our children into their morning routines while I was the driver for “mom’s taxi service”. However, the tides are turning this year, and I am embracing change with open arms. It may seem like a small change, but I know it will make a big difference in their lives.
In addition to prioritizing healthier meals, my husband and I are taking a proactive approach to teaching our kids how money works. Although we have introduced the concept, we have yet to implement practices. We’re in the process of setting up individual bank accounts for them and providing them with a weekly allowance. This allowance is designed to cater to their personal needs, encouraging them to practice budgeting and saving. We firmly believe that this hands-on experience is crucial in teaching them vital money management skills and laying the foundation for responsible financial habits from an early age.
Recently, I came across a website that caught my attention: Calculator Me While I have a certain level of financial knowledge (I used to be a financial advisor), I find that such tools provide a resource for simplifying complex financial calculations. It is so easy to use and proves to be helpful for anyone seeking assistance in financial planning. It is a great tool that complements our efforts in teaching our kids about money, offering a user-friendly platform for financial empowerment.
This year marks a transformative journey as a mom who wants to provide my family with nutritious meals and invaluable financial lessons. I am actually very excited to guide my children through these enriching experiences, equipping them with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate life confidently and responsibly.
I look forward to sharing the gains and the mistakes we inevitably make in the upcoming year. Here’s to continuous learning, financial empowerment, and adventures for our family.
