I have lived in Plano for 12 years now, and I have seen this city grow. The restaurant and shopping scenes have grown tremendously, not just in sheer numbers but also the broad selection, and I love it!
Day trip to RB Golf Club & Resort

A little over an hour drive from the suburb of Plano, TX is the newly renovated RB Golf Club & Resort. The clubhouse and many of the holes offer beautiful overlooking views of the Bridgeport Lake. It’s an easy drive as the Resort is conveniently located on State Highway 380 and so it’s is a great day trip out of the DFW metroplex to play a round of golf or just to get away from the hustle of the city and relax in the countryside while enjoying a drink or some food at The Lakeview Tavern & Grill, the Resort’s own onsite bar and restaurant.
I went with my husband, two kids, and my Mom for an overnight stay at the Resort’s vacation rental alongside the golf course and just minutes walk away from the clubhouse. It was nothing fancy (think Airbnb) but very spacious and comfortable. With three bedrooms, a large living area, a dining area and decently equipped kitchen; it was perfect for all of us (the kids also gave their thumbs up for the internet, and my hubby even tested out and approved the Vudu streaming on the smart TV). There is a small outside area backing up to the runway of the first hole which also has an outdoor grill if you want to hang outside with a few friends in the evening. RB Golf & Resort are running a promotion right now called “Play and Stay” which says it all; so check it out and mention my name and you may get a little special attention.

Wine & Magic…Yes please…

It was my Mom’s birthday and I was looking for a unique activity to celebrate it with her and the family. So, instead of going to a regular lunch or dinner, I decided to take her to watch a magic show. And what is a better way to watch it than with some wine and food!
We arrived early at Checkered Past Winery, and I thought to myself, “wow… what took me too long to visit this place, it’s so neat, and I love the ambiance”. Apparently, it was named “Best Wine Bar in Dallas” by D Magazine, serving quality Texas wines and craft beers. Before the start of the show, we got to order some food and drinks, and my husband got a few minutes to take some photos.

MAMMA MIA! Here We Go Again…

“Here we go again!” I told myself when I heard about the Brick Road Theatre’s production 0f Mamma Mia! coming to Historic Downtown Plano’s The Courtyard Theater. And when I told my Mom about it, she said, “Let’s go watch!”. YES, how could I say NO to that?!?
Mamma Mia!, was my first NYC Broadway show I watched. It was 2006, I just moved to New York from the Philippines and my husband surprised me with Broadway tickets for Mamma Mia!. I was totally amazed by the whole production and will never forget that night. And I will keep watching Mamma Mia!, over and over again. One of the best productions I have ever seen.
Celebration Staycation – Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa

Our favorite man in the house was celebrating his 45th birthday last month and since the kids’ school starts around his birthday; we made it almost a family tradition to have a “celebration staycation.” Our family loves to explore and we are happiest when we are discovering new places and things; meeting new friends and celebrating the small moments in life. So, this year to celebrate his birthday we had the great idea of having a staycation at the one of the most luxurious family resorts in Texas.
Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa – just about 3.5 hours drive from our home in Plano, TX – is famous for its great amenities and the Texas Hill Country setting. It offers tons of activities for the whole family, most especially for the kids, however, you can also just relax and soak in the beautiful nature if that’s your thing.
Women Rock – Dallas Symphony Orchestra

Are you overdue for a date night or maybe a girls’ night out this weekend? Maybe you should consider going to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra at Meyerson Symphony Center for an evening of Classical Rock n’ Roll music. This weekend, September 8-9, you can watch a concert at a different venue than you are probably used to and pay homage to the most influential singers and songwriters who change rock n’ roll forever.
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra presents “Women Rock”, conducted by Grammy award winner and pops conductor, Jeff Tyzik, and along with the powerful voices of Cassidy Catanzaro, Katrina Rose, and Shayna Steele, it will surely make your evening an extraordinary one.
