Glamping or glamorous camping has been a huge phenomenon lately. I was first introduced to this word from a South African friend who went glamping around the South of France. Well, yes… it’s camping without sacrificing the luxury and comfort of a hotel or resort.
My kids went glamping at the Ritz Carlton, Denver this Thanksgiving. Ritz Carlton, Denver is located in Larimer Square, Denver’s most historic block right in the heart of the Mile High City. You are probably thinking and asking yourself, “Glamping, how so? Isn’t Ritz Carlton a luxury city hotel?” Curious now? Keep on reading…
The Ritz Carlton is a luxury hotel which doesn’t discriminate the little ones. They love them and treat them special, just like the grown-ups, from check-in until checkout.
Ritz Carlton, Denver has a fabulous package specially created for adventurous and glamorous kids. They call it the Ritz Kids City Camper Experience and my kids got the awesome privileged to experienced it.
This package includes luxurious accommodations in a One-Bedroom Suite which is at least 1000 square feet (which is needed as you’ll soon see why). The room can have either a city or mountain view.
We got the city view which overlooked the Skyline Park and the historic Daniels and Fisher Tower. The view was so pretty at this time of the year with the streets all decked out in Christmas decor.
In-Room Ritz Kids Tent Experience includes, of course, a tent (or teepee) and special keepsakes like a Colorado wildlife storybook, plush stuffed animals, Flashlights, Ritz Kids sunglasses, and a coloring activity set. Sorry kids, you don’t get to keep the tent! By the way, this package must be reserved at least 48 hours prior to arrival.
My kids are 7 and 6 yrs old, and even if the tent was too small for them it didn’t seem to bother them. They love it and they had fun in it.
If you have 1 kid, this is definitely perfect and he/she can sleep in the tent the whole night but for 2 it is a tight squeeze.
The S’mores cupcake. OMG… They were so delicious and this is one time I’m glad that my boy doesn’t really like chocolate as I got to eat his and even share a little piece with the hubby.
Tip: If you want to purchase extra cupcakes in addition to this package, please call ahead of time and they will help place the order to the pastry team based on availability.
And the best part for Mom and Dad?
So, you know…. when you go camping, I mean glamping, in this type of upscale and luxurious environment, you are sure to sleep really well and wake up feeling so glamorous; I bet hungry too.
My kids woke up at their normal waking time but Mom and Dad woke up later so kids were starving by the time we were up and about. Thankful, Ritz Carlton signature restaurant Elways – named after John Elway the beloved Denver Broncos Hall of Famer – is just a few steps away. And did I tell you Ritz loves kids? They have special kid’s breakfast for ONLY $9. What a treat!!!
And while waiting for our order, kids enjoyed solving the puzzle, they love puzzles and serious about solving it.
It was indeed a sumptuous breakfast and of course, glamorous!!!
After breakfast, I went to check out the spa and gym while the kids and their Dad did one of my kid’s favorite activities, a Scavenger Hunt.
Here are some of the photos their Dad took of them with some of the items they had to find 🙂 Sorry… I am not gonna spoil your search little kiddos out there.
So, when people think that staying in a luxury city hotel is a waste of money then think twice… And if you are visiting Denver, Ritz Carlton may just be the perfect hotel for your family. There are some shops, restaurants and kid-friendly attractions nearby, it is after all in the heart of the city.
Tip: They offer a luxury car service (BMW) within 2 miles radius from the property. This is really sweet!!!
We all had an amazing time and it was indeed an experience of genuine luxury and definitely memorable most especially for the kids.
Take it from these happy faces:)
Kids playing with a few prizes for completing the hunt.
Thank You, Ritz Carlton, Denver… We are surely coming back!!!
“Create Memories That Last Long After You Leave. Reserve A Stay In Ritz Carlton Denver.”
This would totally have been my dream as a kid, actually it’s still my dream! So jealous.
Looks like you had a great time with the kiddies. Glad they got to experience staying in a hotel!
what a fun glamping experience this seems. and those s’more cupcakes got me all smiling looking at that little ones expression, so cute. 🙂
Kids seem to enjoy there glamping. The expression on their faces is priceless.
Clamping sounds so much fun! I truly had no idea about it. I’m definitely gonna give it a try soon. And the Ritz Carlton in Denver is really amazing! If I’m heading to Denver anytime, I’m definitely staying there ?
That is such an adorable idea! A tent, smores cupcakes, the welcome counter. There really has been thought put into this. Love it!
That tent ??? I always wanted one but never got one as a child… Your kids are blessed..
Wow what an experience for the kids! I want to be them when I go there.. lol 🙂
How fun! especially for the kiddos!
What a great idea for the kids! More hotels should offer packages like this.
This has got to be the most glamorous camping experience of all, at no less than the Ritz Carlton. Were you guests of the hotel chain?
What an amazing experience! Your kids must have absolutely loved it. I’m semi-jealous of that tent. I’d want to sleep it in too 😛
That is defiinitely not the definition of glamping I’m used to but it’s one I could get on board with.
Aw,I love that the Ritz Carlton goes the extra mile for their smaller guests. That tent is way too cute but tell me, how was the spa?
I don’t have kids, but when I do this is h ow I imagine them enjoying life.
Glamping is so so lovely. I love their tents. So beautifully lit. I have never tried glamping. But i kbow i should give it a shot ?
Maybe i will take my little nieces to a glamping experience sometime.
Thanks for sharing 🙂
I want to be your kids! 🙂 Seriously, that tent and the cupcake smores are stuff that fantasies are made of. lucky you!
What a cool experience for the kids! I would’ve loved a little tent in the room when i was younger. my family always took me “real” camping though, so i would’ve loved having the creature comforts plus the coziness of a tent and flashlight!
We were recently at the Ritz-Carlton Denver with our kids for a VIP Art Auction. They really did treat our kids well. They even made sure we had a microwave brought to our room since our daughter is a picky eater and we had to bring her some microwaveable food.
What a cute idea for kids. I bet they had fun 🙂
Yes, they had a blast in it!!! And now they wanted to have one at home hahaha
What a fun idea! We’ll have to try that sometime!
Your pics ARE AMAZING ! AND THE TENT WAS REALLY REALLY CUTE 🙂
Yup, some hotels have same idea like this BUT this teepee is sturdy and really is for sleeping:)
