Our favorite man in the house was celebrating his 45th birthday last month and since the kids’ school starts around his birthday; we made it almost a family tradition to have a “celebration staycation.” Our family loves to explore and we are happiest when we are discovering new places and things; meeting new friends and celebrating the small moments in life. So, this year to celebrate his birthday we had the great idea of having a staycation at the one of the most luxurious family resorts in Texas.
Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa – just about 3.5 hours drive from our home in Plano, TX – is famous for its great amenities and the Texas Hill Country setting. It offers tons of activities for the whole family, most especially for the kids, however, you can also just relax and soak in the beautiful nature if that’s your thing.

There are so many things that we love about this resort; however, I wanted to share with you our TOP 5.
1. IMPECCABLE SERVICE and FRIENDLY STAFF
Flawless and genuine service, from the moment I reached out for a quotation until the very last day of our trip. The staff seemed to be very enthusiastic about their job and showed a willingness to please their guests all throughout your stay. Such a happy place and I saw many smiling faces all over the resort. I totally felt at home here!
Shout out to Angelika Geslani for all the assistance while we are on site and for Brooke Phelps for all the help in planning our stay. You ladies are doing so great with your work. Keep it up and soar high.
2. SUPER FUN FAMILY ACTIVITIES
If you have kids and teens who love the outdoors, then this is a perfect spot for you. It is situated just 30 minutes outside the city of Austin where you can experience the Texas Hill Country vibe but not feel too isolated from the city life. It is near the McKinney Roughs Nature Park and situated along the Colorado River; they provide tons of experiences to appreciate the Texas wilderness.

There are so many activities you can choose from, so depending on your liking, they got it all covered; whether you’re into kayaking, rock wall climbing, zip lining, horseback riding, swimming, bird watching or taking airboat rides, you are going to have a blast!
Our family chose to do the airboat ride. We had so much fun; including my Mom who is 71 years old. Some of the activities cost additional so check the rates online or visit the activities desk and make sure to book ahead.

The fun doesn’t stop inside the property. You can venture and explore downtown Bastrop, Tx. It is about 10 to 15 minutes ride from the resort. The town is very quaint and charming and the historic brick wall storefronts along the Main St. adds so much character to the area. We enjoyed our dinner at Neighbor Kitchen Yard, with its beautiful view of the Colorado River, yummy food and their historic and eclectic style of building made it the perfect place for some drinks and pizza. Our favorite Dad was happy!!!

After a long day full of adventures you can just chill and relax. And hey…. who doesn’t want S’mores time?:) The resort has one hella epic S’mores party at the lawn almost every evening.
If you want to spend time with your other half without the kids, the resort has a kid’s club for an extra cost. At Camp Hyatt, they will take care of the little travelers’ fun activities and they can have a blast even when you are not around.
We got a birthday surprise from the resort which included some bubbly but even so we still decided to go out and check out the resort’s nightlife.

3. NATURE AT IT’S BEST
Hyatt Regency Lost Pines is surrounded by beautiful forested hills with lots of hiking trails and the gorgeous view of the Colorado River, it doesn’t get better than this. Also, did I mention about the 18-hole championship golf course designed by world-renowned golf course architect, Arthur Hills? It sure is a perfect peaceful getaway for people looking to get in touch with nature.

FYI: all bicycles are for free for use to all guests.

And, before we hit the pool, we all went for a short hike. It was beautiful!

4. WATER PARK – CROOKED RIVER
Ooooh… this is really a huge bonus. All guests are welcome here. This 1,000-foot river, shaded by pecan and oak trees, is a family-friendly waterpark with a two-story waterslide, a lazy river, sandy beach, and a splash pad, plus an adults-only pool and whirlpool. My family loves this area and my kids favorite.
I loved the music playing the background and the “On the Rocks” swim up bar:)

5. WELL MAINTAINED GROUNDS
The whole property is huge with the golf course and a water park. It is very well maintained and I love its homey ambiance which blends so well with the beautiful natural landscape.

The resort has animal mascots which include the two resident Texas Longhorns, T-Bone, and Ribeye, they look fierce with their 6-foot horns, but they’re well trained and tame enough for a photo shoot (for safety is is still recommended that you follow the warning signs around the animal pens). Check out the schedule to meet and greet with the resort mascot.

Thank you Hyatt Regency Lost Pines for making our Celebration Staycation such a memorable one and thank you for your generosity in extending a special rate for the family. I am sure, we will get to visit again, someday.

Love the fact that there are so many activities for the whole family. The resort looks lovely with so much greenery. I’d also try out that air boat ride, sounds like fun.
Well, happy birthday, so glad you had such nice family time. 🙂
The resort looks amazing , a perfect getaway for the weekend. LOve the nature activities that they offer there 🙂 Looks like your hubby had a wonderful birthday.
This place looks sweet and so does nature around it. I’ve always wanted to see Colorado river.
Wow this looks like it was an incredible time! You had me at impeccable service but the waterpark took me over. I’d love to visit someday.
Celebration staycation…What an amazing idea!! I also love it when a hotel has more to offer than the room and interior itself. The amount of space for the kids (and adults) to enjoy outside makes this special for me. Also, how about that Lazy River? I could spend days on end floating around in that beautiful thing 🙂 Great write up, thanks for the inspiration!
What a nice tradition to have right before school starts! Especially because it’s close to home. I’ve never been on an airboat but knowing your 71 year old mom was on it makes me feel like I should be okay haha happy birthday to your husband!
Love the last picture of the kids jumping on the bed!
Oh amazing content enjoyed going through it. Looks like a perfect place to escape from my work

Super cool celebration staycation. Convey our best wishes to the fav man who turned 45. Hyatt resort looks a great family gateway with somany things to do. Zip line looks nice. Also so much for kids there.
Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort looks amazing. I love the outdoorsy vibe at the resort. I would be sold on free bikes for all guests. But, having the opportunity to ride on an air boat, or zip line, or take in the water park certainly makes a stay more memorable. Our kids would love riding an air boat and taking pictures with the Longhorns.
What a great all around location for a family getaway! It looks like your husband had a wonderful birthday (the kids too!).
